I am a knitter and an amateur photographer. I share information and tutorials, resources, and features from the knitting world here. I also post photo essays.
I have lived in NC most of my life. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Heels!), graduated with a degree in Political Science, worked in politics as a Special Events Coordinator/Fundraiser, married my best friend and then moved to Northern Virginia. My hubby was in the Navy and was stationed at the Naval Annex to the Pentagon. I continued to work in politics a while before making a change, and moving into the Human Resources industry. Before I had children, I was a Corporate Technical Recruiter.
I now live back in NC with my two precious kids, my wonderful hubby, a golden retriever and two kitties. I love my friends and family, knitting, yarn, “picking” for vintage items, reading, music, coffee, great conversation, politics and continual learning. And, that’s only about half of the list!
I am a self-taught knitter. In the beginning, some knitter friends tried to convince me to give it a go, but I politely declined. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it, and I was definitely thinking, “Isn’t this for the Grandmas?” Silly me! My friends had planted the seed and piqued my curiosity. I bought a how-to book, a couple of needles and a ball of yarn. I figured out the basics on my own, and then turned to those friends for help with learning more. With the resources of the internet, I quickly grew proficient in my craft. Now, I simply cannot imagine life without knitting!
